Long work weeks.
Second shifts (parents, students and other hard-workers know what I mean).
By Friday, you're exhausted. Yet there is so little time to unwind. The house needs mending. The kids need taxi-ing (to their numerous activities). And so many other things.
What to do, to regain a little bit of well-deserved serenity?
I mean, in a healthy way?
Why not learn from the work/play/rest balance champion... the CAT!
Cats definitely know how to make the best of a situation. What's more, they know how to take a good nap on a sunny afternoon... a rare talent these days.
I have just finished this week's worth of translation, and after dealing with arthralgia, dysgeusia and hyperhidrosis (all lovely side effects of the drug I'm translating about), I felt like I deserved a little down time before the kids come back from school and make the house all noisy again.
Luckily for me, a "partner in crime" was not hard to find: I went upstairs, released our newly acquired furry family member, and spent the next twenty minutes lying down on the carpet, in a sun ray (I'm a fast learner), tossing little balls of paper and cuddling with HER:
Can you believe that little thing was abandoned in the wild?
I'm so glad our friend A found her and offered us to become her new family!
Be a cat. Stop. Breathe. Stretch. Notice the sun. Take the time. Sometimes, the recipe for happiness is just that simple.
Because if you don't, well the next thing you know...
